Important notice: this course is being withdrawn from spring 2016. Students can complete individual modules in the Autumn 2015 and Spring 2016 terms and receive certificates from The Good Book College on passing the assessment.
The Certificate of Theology is a well-established distance-learning course which originally came from Moore College in Australia. Now certificated by The Good Book College (but still using the great material published by Moore) it is a course that will gently lead you through every book of the Bible plus key areas of doctrine and church history. The course offers you the opportunity to study 18 modules which range from Introduction to the Bible, Ephesians, Romans and Reformation Church History to Apologetics and the Doctrine of God. You are welcome to take all the modules and work towards the certificate or simply pick out the modules that will help you most and focus on them.
Who is it for?
This course is ideal for anyone starting out in some form of teaching ministry (whether that's youth and children's work, women's work, preaching or leading a small group). But it's also useful if you're simply someone who wants to get to know their Bible better. There are no prior educational requirements but students should be able to set aside about 5 hours to study each week for each module.
How does it work?
At the start of each term (January, April and September) you enrol on the module(s) of your choice and work through the material at your own pace. If you get stuck, you can email the college for help. At the end of each term you either opt to take an exam (during a set two-week 'exam period' in the comfort of your own home under the supervision of one of your friends) or you submit some coursework assignments.
